Bio
“My passion for creative expression began
in elementary school. I liked to fill notebooks
with short stories and books, then draw pastel
images to compliment them.”
-Mary Ouimette-Kinney
Mary Ouimette-Kinney's art has appeared on cd covers, posters, magazines, backdrops for Hollywood red carpet events, music videos, and an upcoming movie. She has worked with rocker Meat Loaf, Australian musician Russ Aimz, Hollywood Cure for Pain, and New Mexico Actors. Her interdisciplinary approach to fine art combines muralistic scenes with abstracted shapes and textures based on the elements found in the scenery. "I am fascinated by the interplay between certain shapes and colors in the environment and how they repeat themselves. I notice similar patterns in music".
Plans to produce additional art that incorporates music are underway.
Mary credits her experience as a health columnist for EVE Magazine more than a decade ago with providing the impetus for an ongoing venture that produces educational materials for research firms and medical practices. As the editor of SleepIssues, a full color print medical publication that spans several states plus a related web site, she combines visual art and writing to develop educational materials for patients, allied health professionals, and the media. Her passion for writing does not end with the health industry, as an interest in short stories has led to publication in magazines.
An interest in developing new venues for creative expression combined with a concern for community affairs has lead Mary to organize and produce a host of events over the last two decades involving children, fellow artists, or the general public--and some form of artisty. Her efforts have included involvement with scouting, artistic enrichment programs, performance opportunities for children, and fundraising committees.
